Sometimes i think the lips will color up weird like that if the plant got stuck opening up. Like the circulation of fluids was cut off or something before it could "pop" open. theory only.

Not sure if it needs repotting based on the picture. But if you are going to repot the plant do it when you see root tips beginning to emerge from the newest pseudobulb.

C. lueddemanniana 'Cerro Verde' AM/AOS

This bloomed in the middle of July oddly enough and was a little small and weak this year after repotting. Next year should be much better.
