The bottom one turn out to be root and upper one is looks spike but its growing very slow, but at the same time orchid itself grown lots of aerial roots...

I like the bonsai pot idea, I am doing similar for my Brassivolla Nodosa, not exactly bonsai pot but I have mount sitting on lava rock and the water is in the reservoir...

Yes, the stem is on the right and I noticed a similar bump on another fan as well with a dark-colored tip.
