Cattleya jongheana new division

Hi there. About a month ago I got a couple of Cattleya divisions from a grower. They came in plastic pots with large bark, and I haven’t disturbed the pots, other than to stake them for stability....

Great tip. If cynoches gives me another chance I’ll definitely give that a go. I haven’t noticed mites being a problem in my dendrobiums yet, but I’ll keep that in mind.

Good call. The biggest plastic pots I have are 6” and the basket was nearly this size, so I went with an 8” clay azalea pot. Tons of roots. There is a layer of hydroton in the bottom of the pot.

Cattleya walkeriana ‘Top Chair’ x ‘The Chairman’

My first walkeriana bloom! It may not be pure, but it is lovely. Perfumed scent, smells like hyacinth to me but my daughter catches hints of cinnamon. From svo’s spring 2023 batch.

Spicerianum is one of the few paphs in my collection that thrives on a drafty windowsill-- most of the others are happier in the warm grow tent. I grow in the Northeast, FYI.
