I would try to shake out or wash out that media as it looks like potting soil. I agree to not disturb roots too much with your hands or tools, but light shaking over a trash bin or rinse in the sink...

Cymbidiums can often have some rough looking leaves, but with the condition of the flowers, I would guess a pest has also been at work.
If it were my plant, I might set it away from my other plants...

Dendrobium Secundum

It looks like mechanical damage to me, and not fresh either. I would recommend keeping an eye that any spots don't increase in size, but this doesn't seem worrisome to my eyes.
