I think it's best to have it moist than wet, in the case you may want to let it out of the water tray. Water when the substrate approaches to the dry side.

I have this for 6 months, and recently I notice a new growth on it. A no-ID one, the vendor just named it "lotus-shaped flower", so I guess it is another waiting game till I see the flowers to know...

I bought it from a general flower shop, the tag just read Masd. sp, I guess its id will remain unknown. Anyway, still like it to bits as it is my first Masd :)

This is my friend's plant, and yez that's a dwarf form. It is quite commonly seen in HK now, but I haven't seen a blooming plant so I am very curious what it is :)
