I know that Catasetums are very difficult plants to find in Europe - I never managed to find any in the orchid nurseries that I am aware of - apart from a Fdk which I absolutely love...

Yeah I do understand that a basal growth is not a keiki, but will a keiki on the top of the plant be detrimental for the health of the plant? I honestly can't find the answer to this question...
