According to IOSPE it is a lithophyte. Most on-line photos show it in a pot, so potted is clearly better than mounted.

Whether semi-coarse bark is suitable will depend upon how much you water it....

With a plant this size, there is no harm in dividing it into 3 pcs. They will each be large enough to grow well, and it will partially solve the problem with non-horizontal rhizome.
