Thanks Bud and Camille for your help. I guess the main thing that I learned is that it's not good to move the plant to a new location when it's spiking.
We'll just watch it and see what happens.

Actually the flowers are a yellowish color with pink tinge. The purplish coloring on the leaves may be a photo artifact.
We're 20 miles inland so it's not very humid here, but it's not desert dry...

We're in San Diego, about 20 miles from the ocean. We don't generally heat the house (unless it gets really cold) so the temperature probably varies from 55 at night to 80 during the day doing this...
