Austin Creek Orchids ???

Anyone have experience ordering from Austin Creek? I'm wanting to place an order and just wondering if the OB'ers give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down.

Thanks.

A Beauty!

I have a zebrina that always does very well for me . . . I think I need some other Dryadella's. Do they all grow in pretty much the same conditions?

Breaking P-bulbs

Steve,

I have a rosea and a sylvatica. Most of the p-bulbs on them are broken too, but the plants keep growing and blooming. I wouldn't worry about it.

branching spike

Rosie,

Mine is just a small plant, first bloom. It had only 1 spike about 10 inches long and 3 blooms. I'm hoping for more next year, and that it starts to branch.

Right on Jasen

Jasen is right on this (he must be, it's exactly what I do).

You'll love yours, my amazonica almost never stops blooming. I find them to be pretty easy growers too. I'm also going to try to get...

Thanks

Thanks for the opinion. All my other Trichopilia do just fine in exactly the same culture, but it seems that this one needs something different. Hard to find specific culture info for turialbae on...

Large

Steve,

I'm afraid it is. PBulb and leaf length is 18-20" or so. I love the big, big blooms but I wish the plant wasn't quite so bulky.

Where did you get it ?

Whenever I see a “special” (to me) plant on an OB posting, I wonder where the poster got the plant. I thought it would be nice if OB people mentioned where they got the plants they post. For overseas...

Plexia laxa and Trichopilia turialbae

First, Plexia laxa (from Orquideas del Valle), a terrestrial. I had killed one of these previously, and mistreated this one very badly at first (I guess when you buy bare-root plants you should pot...

Cirr. Elizabeth Ann ‘Buckleberry’ FCC/AOS

Although I think all orchids large and small have interesting “detail” of some sort (form, color, etc.) in the blooms, the Bulbo’s are some of the most unusual. I got this one from Oak Hill.

Lc. Drumbeat ‘Heritage’ AM/AOS

These are always very nice blooms, about 7 by 7 inches and a great fragrance (spicy, cinnamon maybe). I love the dowiana heritage in so many hybrid Catts – the lip color and ruffling.

The photo is...

Mine was outdoors for a few...
