A 3 minute dip in 10% KMNO4( potassium permanganate) might whoop it too. No damage to the plant with either product.

When I resided in Floridastan I built a shade house out of 2 by 6 PT and covered it all with hi-rib lathe. It survived hurricane Andrew, no problem. In hurricane country I wouldn't have anything else.

Many species are vanishing in the wild and the trade/hobby continues to promote hybrids and crosses (mutts). It makes no sense to me.
