Light is really important, but I find that bud blast is often related to humidity. Look into buying a cheap digital thermometer and humidity meter. Whenever it falls below 40% I mist everything down....

looks salvageable. Just cut off all the rotten gunk on the bottom (which may be all of the roots) and lay over sphag and keep moist. Should be fine in time.

you bet...update, I spoke to a grad student tending to the plants and he gave me a bunch of divisions and keikis! I got a phal lueddemanniana, mariae, violacea, bulbo lobbii and a half a dozen noids

haha I'm not sure if I'm looking at the same picture. Vanilla? If you're referring to one of the cacti, I wouldn't know without reading the label. Cacti aren't my thing.
