Is Dendrobium x Bulbophyllum possible?

that's crazy!!

im wondering if maybe the seed parent actually just got self-pollinated/pollinated from a nearby plant of the same species and the grower mistakenly thought his pollination attempt with Dendrobium pollen was successful... i don't know.

but they said that the flower resembled both of its parents... WAT

now i'm wondering why we haven't seen more bulb. x den. hybrids, considering it's been 10 years since that putative hybrid has been registered...

Might have been genetically possible, therefore interesting, but in the absence of a picture, I wonder if maybe the result was not something that one might want to look at or buy.

Possibly - that stuff happens. My own cross of Warczatoria Heaven's Bank (Pescatoria wallisii x Warczewiczella River's Edge) is highly variable, and I've only seen one worth keeping.

Bil Thoms registered Cattleya velutina x Encyclia cordigera in 1993, and he felt it was so ugly, he named it Ctt. Never Remake This.

I usually don't express my thoughts on this subject, but ...
With all the mistakes, disagreements, and other screw-ups in classifying/naming orchids I have lost almost all respect for those that try to set those definitions.
I'm convinced most of them are simply trying to get their name on something and recognized for it.
The naming and classifying of orchids is a quagmire.
Many of the experts look to be little more than amateurs calling themselves experts.

Ray, I love that post.
