Thanks for the link. The authors though are making a bit much about their technique being novel. As they mention in figure 2; the in situ headspace was described by Roman Kaiser in his 1993 book "The Scent of Orchids". In 2010 Kaiser wrote "Scent of the Vanishing Flora"; according to the Givaudan announcement of the publication of that book: "Since 1975, he (Kaiser) has primarily worked on the investigation and reconstitution of all types of natural scents using the so-called 'headspace' technique, which he pioneered in the early 70s".
