This isn't hard to setup, but difficult to execute. Seriously, the person who did this had absolute control over the setup, the lighting, the weather (if outdoors) and a whole lot of patience. It may have been Photoshop'd but even so, it difficult to get that many exposures exactly alike! I'm not against it - I think this is a wonderful way to show a subject in a fresh way (I wish I had done this. I could sell this over and over.) Many folks here have point-and-shoot cameras with little control over the exposure process. Others have more sophisticated camera bodies (some with interchangeable lenses) where perfect control is in the hands of the operator. Not sure the playing field would be equal. Anyways, thanks for sharing because you have me thinking now and I may try something. Not sure which 'chid it will be though.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

Well, all you'd have to do: LOL
#1 Make a little black velvet backdrop set up. Probably could do this out of that egg crate stuff & epoxy to make the frame
#2 Maybe two or three daylight bulb lights set up with cheapo clip on fixtures.
#3 Any camera and a tripod.
#4 Leave the plant opening up on the stage and taking the pic every day or at notable points in the opening up process.
I don't have a clue how to do all those exposures on one frame with a digital (could be done in Adobee)but maybe just a series of say, four regular shots of the bud opening would be neat.
I'll have to mull and squeak my own little wheels. . .

You're on! Let's see if someone can come up with a way. Sorry, but right now all I can see are problems. I'd love to be proven wrong as I think this technique is too neat!

Ghost Orchid Blooms in Stages

Hey Sue! A suggestion for another project!
Project Bloom Capture:
Shoot great photo of any blooming plant in stages like the ghost orchid above.
Wouldn't it be wonderful to see something like that in a calendar ? ALL different kinds of exotic blooms set in all black backgrounds.

HI gmdiaz,I have that picture framed and hanging in my Office/computer room. I found it at a website but was afraid it post it for it may be copyrighted. It is incredible
