I go with Rays more compleat list of ingredients and say super thirve is lacking compared to the updated info

Superthrive and KLN are both a very small dose of IBA Idyl-buttic acid (sic).

The KLN literature I found on the Internet was a dilution rate of 1 million to one.

IBA does not dissolve in water so I do not know what they may add to get a solution or possibly that is why the concentration is so low.

Whenever you add anything to a plant if the item was lacking there will be a big improvement right away. Good balanced care rather than miracle cures work best.

Seeing the ingredients in those items left me wondering about what was in other items of the same claims..

Found some stuff called Great White "Killer Roots for Killer Plants" heres what it has in it.

If you read some about the Mycorrhizae and Trichoderma fungus, that they are very beneficial and necessary to orchid growth and development. Stronger root systems provided by vitamins and fungus. There was a post here on the benefits of Trichoderma in orchids.

So how would you rate Great White , from the ingredients with these other 2 supplements?

The other 2 lack any pro biotics in there chemistry. We all the know the benefit of pro biotics as opposed to anti biotics. Theres nothing in SuperThrive or K-L-N thats solely beneficial to an orchid. They are general use with no micro biological supplements aimed at orchid root systems. Isn't that what this is all about? The orchid root systems So why not use something that targets the orchid root system?

I have used both - but since I haven't used them comparatively (at the same time, different plants) - or even really compared as far as using one or the other in one plant, and nothing for another - hard to actually say

I've mostly used superthrive the past couple of years, only because I can get it locally, so no shipping charges. I don't use it a lot, but if I do have a plant that could use some help in the root department, I will use a few drops of it in water, but not usually routinely - a once or twice type thing. And every few months, I may use a couple drops /gallon when watering all the plants. I used to use it more frequently, but a couple of times got some funky blooms, which may, or may NOT have been from the hormones - who knows ...

for plants that need help with roots, I may not be using it enough to be helpful - idk I've also had plants with no roots, that have recovered fine without hormones - tho I figure it can't hurt if you don't go overboard, and it may help

I'm not sure about natural products - I have read posts about coconut WATER (I think, tho perhaps it was the milk ?) being used as a natural keiki inducing product, or possibly as a rooting hormone - don't remember the specifics - you might do a search on the forum - I'll try to do the same. Probably other members have some info ...

The rooting hormones themselves are not very water soluble, to mineral salts of them are used to provide ionizable species. That's why K-L-N shows a very dilute fertilizer formula on its label, not because it is a fertilizer, per se.

I think Superthrive is great for starting new roots and for stressed plants. I put it in the bucket when I am repotting and I have also experimented with divisions just dipping them everyday. I have seen many new roots forming on old roots that looked completely dead. I use only a few drops in a big bucket. It is not a fertilizer though, so I don't use it all the time.

Sii, go back to page 2 of this post and read my response. When you say "natural" not sure about that since they are all some formulation of chemicals. The Essential Plus might be the closest thing to a "natural" product.

Bikerdoc, yup, I was looking for something with less chemicals as I worry about inhalation, handling.....(I have small children and worry about exposure)

I think I'm going to head out to a hydroponics place and see what I find.
