Yes, you're right! But the lab strains we use aren't the dangerous ones...I could probably drink a litre and be ok...well, maybe a little sick because that would be GROSS.

I'm going to hazard to guess that it's an ATP driven process seeing as it is a luciferase-type gene that they're using :P
