I was thinking about the poultice more as a sealant than a treatment, I just happen to have a premix cinnamon poultice stored. I would imagine that using petrolatum or nail polish would have a similar effect in keeping water out.

I'm not sure if I really "care" about which one works as long as it works, I have treated many things with cinnamon and I would be curious to see the effects of adding chlorhexidine, if any. Then take it from there.
