Default Antifungal debate for seedling deflasking

I have been forced to deflask a a group of Cymbidium seedlings. The flask was WAAAAY over populated and started to show signs of fungal growth.

I have for the most part followed the advice given by Ron at Ron's Orchids:
1. Growing Cymbidium Seedlings - Ron's Orchids

It is unfortunately not the ideal time of year for deflasking here and this leads to my question: has anybody had a bad experience with a antifungal solution with seedlings?

It seems that there is a debate on whether or not an antifungal solution is necessary and should be used. (I don't like the thought of bathing sensitive plants in toxins). In the past, Ive had some small white fungal patches on other orchids in the same growing space and have had to treat half this batch with a fungicide as a precaution.

The product I used is Odeon,(apparently similar to Draconil/Bravo) which seemed to be the only affordable antifungal solution in my area. The active ingredient of the 'broad spectrum contact fungicide' is Chlorothalonil. It seems to be a "all-in-one" solution, but there is no information online about its use with Orchids.

I have only treated half of the seedlings to see if there is any noticeable effect. I will post my findings and observations in this thread once there is something to show.

Has anybody had any negative results with using an antifugal solution on newly deflasked seedlings? If so, which product did you use?
