Default Use of Super Sphag?

I have used long fibered New Zealand sphagnum off & on for years. Just recently, I obtained some Super Sphag which I mixed 50/50 with perlite to pot some Disas. I have used long fibered sphagnum "ala carte'" to pot Bulbophyllums in pots and for some wire mounts I make myself. Would someone tell me if the 50/50 mixture of Super Sphag/perlite would be a usable mixture for the Bulbos? Also, using straight NZ sphagnum, I pack it fairly tight. The Super Sphag seems to compact much more firmly. Would it be better not to pack this medium? Thanks.

Well I haven't been growing orchids for long, but I have never heard of Super Sphag before so I tried doing a search on the internet and found that it is compressed sphag pellets used for growing. Where do you purchase this? I recently purchased a mix for Phal.'s containing AAA New Zealand Sphagnum moss, Medium Cork Nuggets imported from Portugal, and Large Sponge Rock. There are several other mixes for other genera of orchids as well. Perhaps one of these mixes would work well for you? They are sold as the imperial mixes at repotme.com and they have great customer service and would love to answer any of your questions on potting medium recommendations. Sorry I can't answer any of your questions, I don't have any experience with bulbo's, but I am sure others will have lots of good info to give!
