Update on my paph seedlings. I lost quite a few from some form of larvae. You can see the past damage in the pictures. The remaining bunch are working on new leaves though and doing well.

I hope you are all going to try your own crosses now that you have seen how straightforward it is to deflask and grow the seedlings on....

Oh for sure I will be. I've learned a lot with this first flask. for example, I will never make the mistake of keeping them outside again when they are small like this. That is how the larvae got to them in the first place.

I've also realized that a huge reason people breed is to get the best possible quality plant. I wondered for the longest time why people would breed existing hybrids when they could just go and buy the same exact thing, only mature. Now I realize they do it because the mature plant you see for sale in the nursery probably wasn't the "pick of the litter" as they say.

Of course there are many more benefits to growing from seed, so I'm looking forward to my next flask project. I'm hoping it will be one that I've bred.

Hello everyone. I have four of these little seedlings from Bulbofett and they are awesome!

Since Bulbo had mentioned there might be little caterpillars accompanying the seedlings when they arrived, I have kept them isolated in this bag/greenhouse I made for them. :P

It's probably safe to remove them from the bag setup, but they seem to be doing just fine in it for now.

I have never had a Paph before so I don't really know what they prefer for growing habitat.

One of them had a brown spot on its leaf that was spreading so I cut the tip of the leaf off to stop the spreading.

I wonder if these are some of the slow growing Paphs or moderate ones. Do you know? Some Paph's take years and years to mature and flower. (10+ years... lol)

No, the ones that he had which were mature he said only 5-7 years from flask, but he had some that flowered earlier than that.
