Hello orchid-ites,

I have recently got myself into growing orchids and I am quite ill-equpped with knowledge of them.

i am wondering what I should do with my broken dendrobium canes? I have heard that you can propagate new plants by cutting the canes into sections (preferably two-three nodes long), but want i really want to know is what do i do after that?

I have them sitting upon sphagnum moss in a couple of my plant pots. Also, two of the stems have notable bumps on them atm, however, i am unsure as to whether or not they are new growths or disease. They are green, if that helps.

Cheers,
Kimmy

Default Have a look-see :)

Here is a couple of photos of the bumps that have appeared on my broken dendrobium canes.

I'm hoping these are babies/keikis! ) If they are, what is the best way to care for them?

Thanks again

You have new growths. Wait until you have three inches roots on the new keiki then just twist it away from the old cane and pot it....
