For Phal's. you don't need to go through the stem propogation to get baby's, get some Kieki boost and apply to nodes on the stem to produce Kiekis, it is alot cheaper.

I agree with luckygrower. Some keiki paste can do the job. It is very easy to do. You don't need a lab or any expensive materials, just a toothpick and some keiki paste.

Pippin,

Did you obtain the keiki paste in B.C.? Could you please tell me the brand name and the store name? Many thanks,

I've tried that stuff (from plant hormones canada) and I seem to get is flower spikes don't know what I'm doing wrong but I've tried it on a couple of different kinds of phals and just end up with more flower spikes.

I try few times and got flower spikes too. Somebody said that after you apply hormone you put your orchid in dark for a week. You will have more chance of keiki than spike. I didn't test it yet. Anybody try it?

I think it may be a timing or a temperature issue as I have tried it on several Phal.'s and have gotten mixed results, on some plants I got just keikis, on some it branched with new flower spikes and on some I got both.
