Just read through the entire thread - what an amazing read! I too will be trying this method soon enough. It appears easy, cheap, and effective!

If this thread isn't a sticky - I feel it should be!

Thanks Susie! Roby's method makes it so much simpler.

I am hopeful that I'll be able to get them all to deflasking stage but I'm trying not to 'count my bulbos', so to speak.

Natalie, where did you get those tubs?

Fingers crossed I'll have a Paph spicereanum pod ready in a month or two... I might send it off, but seriously considering trying this method.

I made a mix from a recipe using tomato and banana. The recipe is in a link which Roby posted only about 3-4 pages back in this thread. Reading up on Dendrobiums though, it seems they do better when you dilute your media to about half strength.

The tubs I got from the supermarket. They were containers for various tasty things - some had jellies and sweeties, some pinenuts. I ate them. It was a win-win.

Seriously though, take a look around the shop when you're next there and see what containers you can see that have the PP symbol on them (polypropylene).

Thanks for the tip: pp it is! I guess that means it's microwaveable?

Yes they are. Oh, don't buy them if they are not completely clear plastic. Even a little bit of opaqueness will drive you nuts once there's some condensation in the flasks because it'll make it really hard to see inside.

Default first time seed sowing

Hi I have just attempted my first attempt at seed sowing and using this method I have been worried with needing air flow cabinets and the like so I gave this method a try , Have sown Cymbidium ,Coelogyne and Pahpiopedilum using a commercial medium, only two days gone by and looking to see if there is any contamination will update
