Maxillaria inaudita without roots
Default Maxillaria inaudita without roots

I recently purchased a rare Maxillaria inaudita on E-Bay from a grower in Oregon with thousands of sales and 100% rating. When I received the plant it was out of its pot and just lying in the box. The problem is that the plant appears to have no roots. It looks healthy but no roots. I know that some Maxillarias ( like variabilis ) can be rooted by placing them in sand but I haven't a clue of what to do with this plant. Does anyone have experience rooting Maxillarias? The orchid vendor has offered to refund the purchase if I return the plant or I can have a one year guarantee. After one year if the plant dies its on me. I believe if the plant is still alive in a year it isn't going to die and will have roots. I need some help on successfully keeping this plant alive and rooted

How's the Maxillaria?

In my experience, I'd just grow it like it had roots. Don't cut any of them off...yet...

My Maxillaria schunkeana didn't have a spectacular root system when I bought it. It came back in no time and it's been here with me for 4 or 5 years.
