That is the general consensus, some even say wait till they have 3inches in total root mass. It's that time of year again where most of my phals are on the end of their blooms so time to propagate again. This time I was going to attempt a few in SH culture. Take a regular old SH pot(holes drilled 1in up and lecha) and go to town. It's just something I have not tried yet, infact never even heard of anyone trying this method but what the heck right!!! If all goes well I'll post some pics!

What is SH culture ????

SH = Semi-Hydroponic

There is an SH forum that you can browse to learn all about it. First Rays website has a lot of great info too.

hummm... what about keiki's paste on oncidium's floral spike nodes???

Orchidaholic 07-08-2008 05:56 PM

I have not tried on these but hear that the only plants that can be propagated in the manner of "keiki paste" is Phal, Dendro & Phius but that's just what I have heard!

Thanks a lot, otchidaholic!!! I am curious... I can't help to make a try in vitro with hormones... hummmm....

Monstera deliciosa 07-28-2008 07:06 PM

Hello,

Tuteca, I have a book and there is a nice picture of an oncidium keiki on a floral spike. I guess you should have to try the keiki paste.

I would try my self, but
I'm missing the oncidium spike...ajjajaja

Last week I tried my own in vitro phal node culture, so far is going well.

Regards,

Olivia
