Phal Leaf Propagation?
Default Phal Leaf Propagation?

I have a Phal that is grossly overgrown and wondering if it is possible to propagate a new plant from a leaf cutting using a hormone powder. If there are directions for this process, I would love to see them.

I don't think this method is possible with most/any orchid. It's usually only successful if you have leaves, stems and roots all present on every part you wish to propagate.

If your phal has multiple growths with their own roots, perhaps you could divide it?

It is possible with some of the cloud forest orchids (Lepanthes?). It is not possible with Phalaenopsis.

One of my den phals has sprouted two keikis on a damaged cane. Although the roots have grown to a couple inches and are numerous, green growth keeps dying off before becoming a leaf. The cane is now quite withered and I doubt if it can long provide energy to keep it up. Should I cut the keiki off and pot it even without leaves? How much of the cane should I include in the cutting?

I would cut off the keiki. The roots sound long enough. It's hard to keep them watered enough on the plant unless humidity is high.
