Time from pollination to green pod ready for Encyclia cross? Male
Default Time from pollination to green pod ready for Encyclia cross?

I've made an Encyclia cross between (E. cordigera × E. Pyriformis) × E. steinbachii. I made a reciprocal cross, and have 1 pod developing on each plant.

Hoping for the stronger scent and color of the first and higher flower count of the latter.

I was wondering if anyone has experience with producing green pods for flasking, involving any of these species? Or even Encyclias in general? I am wondering how many days to allow, since pollination, for the pods to mature before taking them for green pod flasking?

According to the AOS, around 130-180 days, but of course people with actual experience will be more helpful.

I recommend that you use any recommendation as a guideline only, as individual plants and cultural conditions can make that vary significantly.

As that time frame approaches, keep a close eye on the capsules. If you see the slightest yellowing in either end, that’s when to harvest.
