Amorphophallus germination!

Title says it all,
I planted some wild collected Amorphophallus seeds (A. variabilis, 80% sure) a week ago and here they are today, no leaves yet, just roots. I only took 1 berry and got 2 seeds, but this one sprouted first.

I'll post images as it grows.

pure. awesomeness. what other aroids do you commonly find in you're area? (or are they just ordered?)

Thanks!
There's also an aroid-vine which I do not know the latin name of, but it's pretty common, and there are some climbing philodendron-type aroids as well. We also commonly grow taro (Colocasia) but I'm not sure they're native or brought in by cultivation. There's also Aglaonemas sometimes (Some wild, some maybe "escaped"). This Amorphophallus (A. variabilis, 80% sure), however, is the only one I've seen in the wild in Java. There's lots more commonly grown aroids but they're not usually seen in the wild, or at least I've never seen them in the wild (Anthurium, Pistia, and others).

have you ever sprouted colocasia (esculenta i'm guessing) seeds before? i'm just about to try it myself since I got mine pollinated but there's surprisingly little on seed germination considering how famous it is as a food. everywhere I've checked recommends tuber division but I figured I might as well try something different. still not fully sure whether it needs special conditions to germinate or not. i'll just keep them wet and sterile, possibly keeping them alive, we'll see.

.

No, this is my first at aroid seed germination. My process was very simple.
1. Take a berry
2. Peel the berry
3. Put the seeds in the potting media (I used soil and some sphagnum)
4. Wait
Good luck with them though!

nvm, i'm probably just overcomplicating things...

Update on "main" seed:

Doing nicely so far. I think it will sprout in a few days.
Update on the other seed:
No image, I'll leave it in the soil, but it has germinated too, which is amazing because I cracked a small piece off it when peeling the berry.
