How would you treat this Catasetum
2 Attachment(s)
My Monierara Milenium, has been off season since I got it last year. She entered dormancy in early fall, new growth came during winter, flowered beautifully but shortly in late june, flowers faded in mid july, she has kept all her leaves and look pretty green still so I have continued to water regularly, Im fertilizing a little like monthly, but now she is having a new growth with no dormancy... I am not sure how to proceed, should I keep watering as leaves are still green? Or stop and restart watering when new growth has longer roots? Thanks for any suggestions!

That older growth still looks pretty vigorous, as you pointed out, but it is small compared to the last year's pseudobulb. I think I would be trying to get as much growth as possible on that larger growth this season, and not worry about the small growth just starting. It will grow or not, but a larger bulb will give more vigorous growth in the future, so I'd keep watering some until the leaves start to go bad.
It's possible it may not go into complete dormancy. I would still take my cues from the state of the leaves on the older bulb. |
I'd stop watering all together when the new roots emerge. Then start again when the roots get 3-4 inches long.
