All: First let me say that ES and Kim have been a big help with this topic. The fact that I am still looking for advice probably says something about me. So, this plant is practically welded on to this 3" sturdy basket. It would take an act of Congress armed with shears to get it out and into the bigger basket I bought. I have soaked it and the roots do not seem pliable enough to bend through the slits to drop it into the bigger one.

I have no problem soaking it once a day, and I could poke coconut husk or sphag in-between the roots in the basket. It is outside now but when it comes in, HR will be about 50%.

Forgive me being needy on this. I'm sure I can give it what it needs, but I still need a nudge.

I wouldn't use sphagnum. If you feel jittery, water twice a day when it comes in.

I would just put the smaller basket into the larger one with your airy medium of choice. It should be fine.

That will take some doing but, it could be done and I had thought of that...cause even cutting the basket off won't work.

I would do exactly what Fishmom said. It seems like the least amount of headache/hearthache for both plant and plant parent :rofl:

Amen, Salixx! I'm going to try that but, wow, these roots are a twisted mess. ES warned me not to cut any!!!

All: I opted for a mix of methods. It was so humid today (70%) that it seemed like the roots were very pliable. I wiggled the 4" basket into a 6 or 8" basket and finger stuffed some sphagnum between the two baskets.This meant there was some on the roots and some just holding the space. That was Kim's idea. I didn't break any roots so, I was relieved. It's new leaf has grown and it has freckles but, the roots haven't grown nor do they have green tips. I'm a little anxious about that. But, I think it will be fine and it will be in that basket forever!

Y'know, it looks to me like that is going to be one happy plant!
