I can hardly wait. I count 9 stems on it. There are some tiny other ones but I don't know if they are going to grow or not. The first pics are of my set up in my garage basement where they have stayed nice and cool to fairly cold this winter. It has gotten into the 40's a few times. I set this up late last summer and temps did get into the 70's. Only time will tell but they sure are happier and I keep the humidity in the 70's or 80's.

OMG I am so excited for you. I think we are the only people who actually get happy about winter weather.

Sick are we not? But they are so happy with the cold. I'm so in love with them, I must have MORE!

Good luck! I am looking forward to seeing the blooms. The blooms of these have always fascinated me but I was afraid to grow them. The first one has been doing well so I bought a second Masdie this past weekend, Masdevallia amplexa. :)

I certainly understand. This had 2 spikes last year but they both blasted before they got every tall. I am shocked at how tall these have gotten. I had to put these in my basement to get them humid enough and cool enough. I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. They would do alright in my kitchen window with the humidifier blowing over them but then in the summer the sun would change and cook the roots. It would only shine on them for and hour in the early morning but it was enough that I killed 3 of them.

Late last summer I finally got this set up and boom they seem to be doing much better. My ignea especially. The new leaves are so much taller and straighter.

Can I ask what type of lighting you are using? Looks like things are working well!

It's a LED I got off of Amazon. It is a round 36 W. It is green on the outside funny looking light. I moved it a little closer for awhile but I think it was too close because some of my leaves where getting a lighter green so I moved it back a bit. Yes it seems to be working. Now I just need to find a way to get light to the other shelves. This one hangs from the sealing.

Finally I'm getting the pictures on here. I have had things going on. I am absolutely in love with this orchid. The spikes are around 14 inches tall from the base of the plant. I can't have one that gets taller as this one is almost touching the plastic cover. 9 blooms they are all open now but I took the pictures when there was still one bud to open. Did I say I was in love with it, hee, hee :blushing:

Absolutely beautiful and wonderful! Congrats!

Masdies with this shape always remind me of te chelicera on spiders, only more colorful and beautiful. And less scary, of course.

I have to say I am a bit proud of myself. I was not sure I would ever get this to bloom let alone with 9 blooms on it. They seem to be very happy in there new environment. I hope this is one of the tallest Masdies as I can't have one much taller in there.
