eBay seller peaandshel
A week or so ago, mostly on a whim, I ordered a Phal World Class "Big Foot" from eBay seller peaandshel. Peter posted a thread about these "Big Foot" Phals and I was intrigued, so when I saw it on eBay I pulled the trigger without even thinking. The seller, peaandshel, is also known as Carmela Orchids, of Hakalau, Hawaii. They wisely delayed shipping for a couple of days while it was cold here in Georgia, so the plant arrived today, a day in the 60s.
So, if you look at the eBay listing you'll see that the plants are described as "near blooming size". Thus, I was surprised that it arrived in a long, tall box. It's not "near blooming size", it's in spike, and the spike is heavy with healthy (even after shipping) buds. I think it's safe that I received a LOT more orchid than I expected in this transaction, but also safe to say they've gained a customer. Two thumbs up to peaandshel! |
I wonder why they don't identify themselves (not just Carmela but other big names, too).

I've seen their listings on eBay, I've not ordered from them though. It sounds like you found a great vendor, congratulations on the nice plant! Hope to see pictures soon.

I just bought a Purple Cascade from them through Amazon (where they do use their real name). They were the only ones offering it for a reasonable price. :)
Good luck with your new orchid! |
I'm not surprised that your plant was (much) bigger than expected, in bud or bloom when not expected, and in great condition. Plants they sell as plugs are bigger than some sellers call NBS, and I've always been very happy with the size and quality for the price on anything I've gotten from them. My only complaints with them are slow or no response on email inquiries, and because they insist on FedEx shipping it limits my ability to order from them because of local problems with FedEx.

FedEx was always great here but, since December, there have been two issues. First, a package was delivered to a neighbor before Christmas. And, yesterday, I finally got a pair of shoes that were said to have been delivered on Jan 5. No idea where the shoes have been for the six days....

I don't mind FedEx deliveries. Also, since I live alone and am at work all day I often have shipments sent to my workplace. Deliveries have always been dependable. Also, I'll deal with a few days of extra delay if necessary if it means I receive such a delightful plant!

Don't get me started on FedEx...
