Just coming into bloom. This was a very nice gift from an orchid friend. I love that the backs of the blooms are more spotted than the fronts!

Is it fragrant? I've read different things saying none, few, some, most or all Microchips are fragrant.

Not fragrant at night. I'll have to check in the morning, but I haven't noticed it at all.

I'm really surprised to hear about the fragrance (or lack thereof). Of all the ones I've seen, they've all had pretty strong/noticeable scent. The scent is strongest mid-morning to early afternoon on bright, sunny days, but is usually detectable throughout the daylight hours.

Anyway, this is a great gift. It's one of the few Dendrobiums that grows for me. My growing conditions tend to be a little on the shady side, my night temps in winter a tad cool, and my watering hand a bit heavy for most Dendrobiums. However, I took a chance on Microchip, and it's been chugging along, for several years now. It's one of the hybrids I recommend for people just getting started with orchids or Dends.

Good news is that as long as the plant is happy, those flowers can last a very long time, 3 - 4 months is about average for me.

My Microchip has a light, delicious fragrance. Probably my favorite orchid - easy grower and mine has now been in continuous bloom for the past year. New buds on new spikes keep growing and opening as older flowers on old spikes die. And has a nicely compact, bushy growing habit.

These are great a Den. from a Papua New Guinea background. Mine has just finished flowering with flowers lasting 5 months. I found keeping slightly moist seems to help
