First blooms of this seedling plant. The first two blooming pics were taken indoor under light and the last three were taken outdoor.

Beautiful velvety magenta flowers! What a nice plant! But I guess we shouldn't go grocery shopping nor orchid naming when we're hungry.

:rofl:totally agree,estación seca.

WOW!!!! I absolutely LOVE this!!! As an aside, this would be either an Sophrolaelia (Sl.) under old taxonomy, or simply a Cattleya (C.) under new taxonomy. This adorable plant is a primary between Laelia pumila and Sophronitis brevipedunculata, which are both now considered Cattleya. I'm honestly extremely jealous of you. I wish I had access to the American orchid market. :(

I detect a business opportunity for a Canadian who can master the details of plant importing.

What a cute plant with such pretty flowers! I would really like to know what was going through the mind of the person who gave it such an unusual name too.

My dream is to open a greenhouse in here in Canada and be the source for most orchids under the sun. I'd love to regularly import from Ecuagenera, Andy's, Big Leaf (which is a key to Taiwan Phals), SVO, and maybe Cyps from Asia and Angraecoids from Africa. Plus, I want to do breeding with everything I can get my hands on. I also really want to try my hand with genera that don't often get used. I'd really love to so some fun breeding with Oncidiums, Pleurothallids, Ophyrs, Disa, and other terrestrials.

What a beautiful orchid! The name must have some story behind it....

That sounds like a great goal, TheBlazingAugust. I think Canada needs you! :)
