OK, who can say what this is please?

I saw a pic a while back of an orchid with the most massive pBullbs. They were 6, 8 inches high, and had a leaf like a stanhopea coming out the top.

In the pic it was on a wooden window sill of a very nice window that was on two sides of the corner of the room. Very nicely done out in wood.

If anyone can figure out what it might be I would be grateful.

Do you happen to have said picture?

A single leaf? Were the psuedobulbs... fat or slender? smooth or ridged? jointed?

They were a bit biconate, fat in the middle thin at the ends, a bit like a stretched rugby ball.

I can't remember much else.

Peristeria and Neomoorea come to mind.

Looking at the pics of those two they are similar, but the pBullb I saw was much bigger.

How do they compare to Catasetum?

sbrofio 10-10-2016 09:29 AM

Anguloa or Lycaste?

Rothrock42 10-10-2016 11:06 AM

I was going to say Lycaste. I saw one this weekend (which of course I can't remember) that was enormous. At first I thought the foliage was a coconut palm, it was that large.

Eulophia grows big bulbs, petersi, andamanense, could be. Just where did you see it?
