Translucent White Lesions on new BLC

1 Attachment(s)
Hello!

From limited prior knowledge, as well as the research I have been doing over the past couple of days, I am completely unable to identify what these white markings on the leaf of my new Cattleya-type orchid. It was one of those impulse discount-rack buys, and I figured that I might at worst lose the leaf, but I would obviously prefer not to hinder the plant in such a way.

Below is a picture of what I assume is some sort of fungal infection, perhaps? I attempted to remove the spots with a diluted isopropyl alcohol/dish-washing liquid solution, but to no avail.

Any help whatsoever would be extremely appreciated. =)

It looks like damage to the leaf from bumping into a shelf above? Think how much these plants are man handled at discount stores. Picked up, put down, shoved back into the shelving. Maybe from packing/shipping material used that had scrapped or cut the leaf.

You may not lose the leaf, I would leave it alone and keep that area dry. Hopefully someone else will chime in with other advice or opinions.

I agree it looks like some kind of mechanical damage. Maybe even chewed ?? or scraped on something.

I appreciate the feedback! If that happens to be the case, I would be utterly thrilled.

If anyone else has differing opinions, do feel free to chime in also. Again, all of it is extremely helpful :)

I'll vote for the mechanical damage as well. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't spread or go soft etc. I think it will be fine.

Welcome to the Orchid Board!

I agree it looks like mechanical damage. It looks as though the leaf was pushed into something sharp a few times as it got jostled.

Many thanks for all of the assistance and the warm welcome :)

Thankfully, it's now all repotted and sitting in quarantine for the next couple of weeks before I formally add it in with the rest of my orchids!
