Cattleya percivaliana 'Merril' AM/AOS x Laelia alaorii 'SVO II'
This second bloom is MUCH nicer than the last. So much so, that I think I have two plants in the same pot.

Beautiful!
I'm sure you're right. some of my seedlings are impossible to separate, i can easily see how they could end up growing together. |
Very beautiful!

Oh my, that is really fabulous! I really love it! The coloring and form are just stunning!
If this is a young Cattleya and this is just the second time it has ever bloomed, it may really look different. The Mini Purple that I have blooming now (definitely just one in the pot) really had different flowers the last two times. The first blooming was pretty ugly and I wasn't certain I wanted to keep it and the second was a bit better. I like this third blooming very well. I have had the same happen with some of my other Cattleya seedlings, too, when they started to bloom. However, I often do find more than one orchid in a pot, especially with Cattleya seedlings. I wonder if it is sometimes done on purpose when a seedling is smaller to increase the chances one will grow? Or, perhaps, just someone in a hurry when dividing up the compote? Or, maybe vendors do it just to give the buyer a better chance of getting a winner.... |
Pretty, I can't wait till my alaorii hybrid blooms. I defiantly had 2 in one pot just this fall. I potted them up separately.
