another schwerter order :)
well my schwerter order arrived. am liking the flowers on the venosa primary hybrids but don't like the smell.
my venosa x speciosa plant has 7 spikes  all except one have spikes :D did break one of the spikes on the venosa x sumatrana but theres 3 more. :) didn't realise how big venosa hybrids were which is a bit of a problem. this is what I bought:- Phal. mannii Dark x amboinensis flavida Phal. cornu-cervi x fasciata mit Rispe Phal. venosa x sumatrana - mit Rispe Phal. amboinensis x equestris - mit Rispe Phal. venosa x zebrina - mit Rispenansatz Phal. bellina 'Ponkan' x bellina 'blue' Phal. venosa x speciosa mit Rispe Phal. mannii 'Black' x schilleriana as always was nicely packed, took me quiet a while to unpack. all very nice but don't think i'll be able to get them to flower again with out some more well lit grow space. |

another schwerter order :)
Is it safe to say you are into Phalaenopsis?
Schwerter seems to be a very good vendor, not only because of your pictures, but they seem to exceed buyers' expectations. In the USA, I find that Peter Lin, owner of Big Leaf Orchids, has a similar appreciation. You really have to spend a lot of time unpacking your order. It feels like Christmas when I get an order from Mr. Lin. |
yes I do like Phalaenopsis orchids :)
started with the hybrids and now am mostly collecting species that I like. I will probably just be collecting variations of bellina now tho. yes schwerter are a nice place to buy from, only drawback is the long time needed to unpack the plants :) it is like unwrapping a present :) if I lived in the usa I would probably buy from big leaf, his plants look very well grown. have spent some time looking through the big leaf Phalaenopsis forums, so many nice plants. its nice to see peter lins plants, the gigantea he has looks awesome :) |
I also have the venosa x speciosa from Schwerter. It arrived with 5 spikes and a few blooms. Since then it has put out a new spike and opened many more flowers. I like buying from them. You always know you'll get worth your money.
Btw, I looked this cross up in the International Orchid Register at RHS and it's called Phalaenopsis venosasp. |
And you're blooming Drosera as well!
