Keikis on Pleurothallis
I installed a Pleurothallis niveoglobula in my tank a few weeks back.
As it's both flowering and sprouting new growths I assume it's rather enjoying itself, but I recently noticed that one of the old flower stems is redeveloping itself into two new leaves. Roots are just beginning to show. I also assume this is rather normal, but what factor(s) would it likely be attributed to? Change in light levels, temps, watering, division? Also, how long should I leave the keikis before transplanting them to the drip wall? A couple of inches of total roots (or whatever the recommendations for Dendro/Phal keikis are these days)? |
I do not grow these but I will give you a bump so maybe some one that does will chime in.

Thanks!
The keikis are developing rather well, although roots are a bit slow yet. Eight new flowers forming, which is fun, but not spectacular (as they're about the size and shape of a pinhead). |
I don't know that specific plant, but my experience with other pleurothallids is that over-fertilization leads to keikies.

Then it probably is so here as well.
While I don't add any fertilizer as such, I run the tank on tap water, and the moss mix has probably brought a bit of nutrients as well. Any ideas on suitable root length before cutting? |
3" of total length is good, whether it takes one root or more to reach that.
