new Maxillaria schunkeana - will it survive?

Hi all, I'm a long time orchid lover but kind of a newbie at cultivation. Just over a week ago I added a tiny Maxillaria schunkeana to my small collection. It was the only one I saw at the show and I should've inspected it better prior to buying but...live and learn. I repotted it when I got home and I am quite worried that it is not well. I would love any advice on (1) if it's sick (2) if so how to save it and (3) general care.

Thank you!
Cait

Looks fine to me, personally I find that my maxillarias like to stay moist all the time, and more shaded than the other orchids. Also slightly cooler. My 2c though

Check the roots by gently squeezing a single root. If its firm, then the plat should be fine. If it is not, then check the other roots. This is because for some maxillarias, it's hard to tell whether the roots are rotted or not due to their natural brownish color. So far, it looks like it has quite a few new growths. Those will put out new roots if the plant is properly cared for. My care information may not be very accurate as I've had this plant for only a month but the main points that I've heard from others is:

-medium to bright light, similar or a little bit less than cattleyas if you have any (or an unobstructed south or west window)
-consistent moisture. do not allow it to dry completely

Don't worry about temperature. They perform better cooler (summer daytime temperatures in the low 70's) but overall are very temperature tolerant.

My BFF gave me one in the fall, she has it also, from Fishing Creek in Pa. Was in bloom, clay pot with s/m. She put hers directly under her grow lights and waters just before moss gets too dry-I do the same. I'm getting lots of new growth. Inter. temps. Fantastic DARK maroon flowers, almost black! Good luck.

How would you compare culture on this to that of M. tenuifolia? It's been on my 'considering' list. Tenuifolia does well around here.
