Mounted NOID Tolumnia in Bloom

This is blooming at the moment. I am truly amazed at the way this plant can change bloom colour based on temperature. When I bought this in bloom several years ago it was all dark pink with a small amount of white. The past two winters I have bloomed it in a cool greenhouse and this is the colour it develops. Last year the old spike from January grew a new branch in March and the flowers bloomed bright pink. The sun was warmer and temps warmer in the greenhouse by then making a big difference in bloom colour. It will be interesting to see if this happens again.

Wow that is gorgeous!! Nice job!!

I love the mount, too

Wow! Beautiful!

I have had the same experience with greatly differing color due to temps (even spots/no spots) on Tolus.

This looks just like my Tolu Genting Pink Lady (which I no longer have)

Its beautiful-nice colours

Thanks for looking. WhiteRabbit, I get varying spots too depending on temps.

I've brought it into the house to enjoy, so I'll see if any developing buds change colour.

Silken, you had posted pics several days ago showing your awesome mount. It's really gorgeous with the Tolumnia in bloom! Very very nice.

Thanks. I posted it in another thread discussing mounted Tolumnias. There is another plant on my mount which has bloomed last winter, but not blooming this winter so far. It has a bit of new growth tho.

Thanks Mandy. I bought it from a lady who made them in Portland, Oregon for quite a few years. Unfortunately soon after my friends and I each ordered a couple to try, she shut down her business. I don't know the reason. It was called EZOHYDROMOUNTS. (EZ Orchid). It is a hollow unglazed porcelain log, fired onto a glazed base. The idea is to fill it up with clear water (no ferts) and the water seeps thru slowly. I do that, especially in summer. But I also find I need to mist or water the outer surface most days also. The plants have attached roots down the sides of it and also out in the air with the moss.
