Possibly Beallara Tahoma Glacier? Help Please!

This is what happens when you go to Home Depot for caulk and can't stay away from the orchid table.

I bought what was tagged Wils Aloha Sparks 'Halloween' but after googling for care I think the tag may have been switched with the chid in spike that was next to it.

I don't want to move it outside here in sw Florida if it is actually the Tahoma Glacier, as it looks like it's not a fan of our hot summers.

The colors are off in the pictures - the petals are a pale lime green and the purple is much lighter than it appears.

Any help appreciated, OrchidBoard folks.

If there were some tagged Aloha Sparks then that is likely what you got. Maybe you could take your tag back to HD and see if one is wearing the wrong tag also and switch them :) I like having a tag and knowing the name for sure if I can. Or if you really wanted the other one, they may be in bloom also now and would exchange for you.

I'm afraid if I go back I'm going to wind up taking the other one home with me. :] Just to see what happens when it blooms, of course.

I'm pretty new to orchids, so I too love having tags to help me look into what exactly they want to thrive.

It was just the two similar plants in a sea of phals, unfortunately. The other that had the Tahoma tag had more psuedobulbs but the leaves looked less healthy. Still - tempting!

Thanks, silken ;]

I say go for it. If the leaves are poor or bloom partly spent, I have managed to get them for 1/2 off at HD by speaking to the plant person in charge. If you were buying a gift you wouldn't want a half healthy looking plant or bouquet. And they are gifts to myself :)

I'm with silken, go for it. It's very pretty.

Looks like Tahoma Glacier to me.

It is Beallara Big Shot 'Hilo Sparkle'.

Aloha Sparkle is red and much smaller flowers.
Tahoma Glacier does not look like this, although similar.

Belated Thanks for the ID - I'll follow the Hilo Sparks care advice. It came potted in spag and I want to repot in a faster drying media, so I'll wait for new growth and move it to something chunkier.
