Bulbos - concinnum and auratum

I think bulbos like my growing conditions. Both of these plants have lots of buds still to come.

concinnum species. This plant surprised me with it's growth habit. It does not grow over the side of the pot, like most bulbos do, it just keeps climbing up higher into a pile.

auratum species.

Ron posted a picture of his plant and I thought his looked more like little yellow boots, similar to frostii. Mine doesn't have petals that seem open like his did. Mine are more flat.

Both of these came from Porters this summer.

They're both beautiful!
I think you made the right decision in concentrating on Bulbophyllums!

Wow I love both of those! Marilyn, I can't wait to give bulbo's a try someday. When I saw your pictures, I thought of how cool those would be to have at the office and show off, some people at my office think my orchids look like aliens! But I am sure they wouldn't survive my dry office conditions. I hope to have a bulbo win in one of the future project's we have! Can you tell me what conditions you grow yours in? I am sure you have mentioned it before, but I can't remember. Thanks!

Becca

I grow mine in my home where the humidity is average, but I do run a humidifier if it becomes very dry in my house. Bulbos like rather high humidity.

I water them about every other day, and spritz the mounted ones with a spray bottle, clear water, every morning. I use MSU fertilizer 1/4 strength for every watering for all my orchids. I have read where some bulbos like lots of light, some med light, and some low light. Mine all get high light. They seem to like it......at least they grow and flower well for me in those conditions.

I have some mounted, some in the medium they came in, not all alike, and I even put a couple in S/H. The only plant which is a bit fussy is my medusea. It is just OK, not much growth, although it did bloom for me.

I am far from an expert on bulbos. I have only grown them since early spring. I suppose you could say I grow mine "by gosh and by golly" but so far I have had beginners luck.

I stuck my nose right into the flowers on both plants. :scratchhead: No smell, not even a little.;)

Spectacular! 2 varieties that I don't have yet
You seem to be doing everything right.
Did you happen to try and smell them when they are being heated up by the sun ? That usually works for me, of course sometimes I wish that I hadn't!

So cute! I have a lepidum, but it doesn't seem to grow as well as yours, tiny little bulbs and no flowers. Unlike yours I mount mine.

i think the top one could be Bulbo Daisy chain??
