Dendrobium Royal Wings

(Den. Royal Tokunaga x Den. Silver Wings)

This is a husky plant.
A member of the Latouria section of Dendrobiums, Den. Royal Wings is another successful step towards this line of breeding….more compact than its Phalaenopsis-type Dendrobium cousins, this hybrid, when fully mature, can produce a magnificent display of white flowers, with plum-burgundy stippling and striping on the lip and burgundy dotting on the back of the sepals. Sadly, this has no fragrance at all.
This Dendrobium was bred in Hawaii from Papua New Guinean species. The flowers last a very long time, 3 months or more.
This orchid plant is not a Mericlone (which produces exact duplicates), no two plants will be the same from this cross, and they will flower in a range of characteristics acquired from the two parents.
I give this partial shade outdoors in the summer, but bright light in my south facing window in winter.
Temperature: Hot to Warm
I let it dry between watering.
I feed it weekly weakly K-Lite and seaweed mix.

Beautiful!
I think it is a baby plant by the way.
I have seen lots of these and they get quite big with many more flowers per spike.

Beautiful! One of my favorites!

Interesting - mine always blooms starting late winter, or early spring ... hmm :scratchhead:

Definitely is a bigger Den - but Yay for tight rhizomes! :D

Thank You for the visit!

-you are right, I got this a year ago as a 2 year old seedling and the tallest cane just finished blooming while there is another spike forming on the other cane.
