New to this site...
Hello,
My name is Chris and I'm new to this site and orchids in general. Got involved two year's ago, while attending an orchid show in Burlington, ON. At the time I purchased a Eplc Don Herman 'Gold Rush', which unfortunatley, has since entered the 'Land of Dead Orchids':( . This is when I made up my mind to join a club :D to better help me understand what I was doing and try not to send too many more plants to that place in the ground. With the help of society members (OSRBG) I have grown my knowledge and understanding of orchid needs, however, I still have faults and trying to correct them. I would recommend joining a society, as there are a lot of like minded people there to aid and assist. I made a decision, right or wrong, to focus on Cattleya unifoliate species, seeing that there were only a few plants in that category with almost the same growing habits. My environment has grown from windowsill to light stand in the basement to small (6x8) greenhouse in my backyard. I now have approximately 50 plants, some of which have bloomed for me a second time in their cycle. This is a good thing :D ! Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and look forward to learning more about orchids from this site and others. Yours in growing happy and beautiful orchids, Chris |
Welcome aboard, Chris. Sounds like you're off to a good start. Jump right in, and have fun.

Newgager,
I am also new to orchids and this board, so all I really can do is post questions, which of course ok. I can't really give much advice. :) I know that if I listen to the advice of those who do know then I to will become knowledgeable and helpful which is one of my goals here. However I can say welcome aboard and hope you enjoy your time here. :welcome: TC |
Thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to posting some pictures soon!
