Unusual Phal

Ever seen one with spotting like this? My mom insisted I take this one because she didnt want to take care of it anymore. The grower is silver vase. Others from there include a name on the pot- this one just has numbers. 1316-311697. No clues on their website- this variety doesnt show up. The spotting varies a LOT from flower to flower, as you can see. Any ideas?

The flower varies from flower to flower because of the genetic mutation from too complex hybridising. Sorry, i dont know this hybrid but looks familiar to me. I will try to search this. Nice phal :)

Gorgeous!

It's usual for spots and speeches to vary from flower to flower

:frogfly: Beauty of a plant! I'd pick this one up if I saw it . Lovely and curious coloration!

No. No. No. Some Phals just are naturally variable in color pattern, species as well as hybrids. Nothing to do with mutation or hybridizing. And like all hybrid Phals, there are too many similar hybrids to ever make a positive ID without some information from the grower or breeder. Even a variable pattern like this is far from unique.

There are some characteristics which can help identify it. The complete lack of spotting on the lip. And the blush of color in the middle of the flower, above the lip, which is present in all the flowers to some degree, regardless of spot variation.
