My babies arrived!
My compots and a flask arrived yesterday, and I spent all night moving the compot seedlings to new pots.
I ran out of pots and sphag for the flask, so I'll work on that one later today (I hope the flask will survive a few more days?) I am so excited to see these babies grow! I'm just hoping I'm a good parent  Some pictures: My compots (community pots). I received random choices from the grower, here is what they sent me.

But here's a snap of some of them in their DIY greenhouses. http://i57.tinypic.com/acudue.jpg :thanx: A quick thank you to orchidsarefun, Cym Ladye and CambriaWhat for their suggestions and information on my prior post about flasks and compots! Happy growing and Happy Friday everyone! (sorry this was so picture heavy!) -lesli |
Congrats on your new arrivals! Good luck! :)

Good luck! They all look so happy and healthy!

How exciting!!!
So many babies! I hope they all grow nicely. |
 Wow! I've never seen so many baby orchids before. Are you keeping them all?! I wouldn't know what to do with that many lol.
|
Thanks everyone!!!
Bulbofett - I have no idea what I'll do with them all!! This is my first venture into seedlings, and I probably should have started small, but I found a good deal so I dove in! I'm just hoping half of them live through my parenting....and if they all miraculously live, I'll have to have an Orchid garage sale :) |
Good luck with all these guys, I hope you are successful. :)
I just got one 'Angel Kiss' a couple of weeks ago. Thought to be a year from blooming but I believe I have a spike! I'm pretty excited about this small little thing. Hope yours are awesome! |
My babies arrived!
Wow, when you dive in, you really dive in! Congratulations. I'm sure you will have many survivors. The great thing about starting with seedlings is you and the seedlings become accustomed to your mutual environment--without experiencing the shock of shipping with older plants. And, should you need to find good homes for your grown up plants, you will be able to provide good information on their culture.

Looks amazing, best of luck with new babies and my admiration - I can grow with some great success many orchids, even the hard once, but I am so not good with any flask babies or compots. I guess, I juts have no patience to give them that extra care and attention they do need for sure (funny, I can give all the attention to my adult orchids:-))

lotis146 - would you please share a picture of your Angel Kiss...I wonder how big they actually get? I hope you are getting a spike!!
Very good points, MattWoelfsen! If they all survive I will surely need to find some of them homes :) TOMMYMIAMI- they are definitely more fragile than adults...I hope I have the patience for them! Thanks so much to all of your comments ;) |
