'Christmas' driftwood mount

1 Attachment(s)
For Christmas, one of my kind neighbors gave me some huge pieces of really fine driftwood. I did one up as a mount today with two compact catts. I thought I would post it to see if I've figured out how to insert a picture.

The piece of driftwood is about 4 ft long and I put two compact Catts, from MarbleBranchFarms.com, on it. The lower plant in Slc Wendy's Valentine 'June' AM/AOS, Slc. Wendy’s Valentine ‘June’ AM/AOS , and the upper one is Slc Jungle Beau "Lakeland' x Rsc Williette Wong 'The Best' AM/AOS, Sc. Jungle Beau x Rsc. Williette Wong 'The Best' AM/AOS . Both plants do or should bloom out red and yellow.

It is fantastic. I would love to have the room for one that large. You did a great job mounting them.

I wish I had room too! I purchased a really cool grapvine mount a couple of months ago but it was much larger then I expected. I just don't have any place to put it in the orchidariums if I were to mount something on it. But who knows, this one may inspire me!

Thanks so much. These are really fine pieces of wood and I'm pleased as punch I figured out how to post a picture.

Here is another one. This was a huge wide piece of driftwood so I broke it into a couple pieces because of the weight and it looked rather funny the way the edges ran across the top until I broke it up. Its still a pretty big piece though. Anyway, here is one piece of it with a rambling C. intermedia var. orlata on it. The plant is in sheath and it hated it in its pot,,,,thought it was too wet apparently. Rambling intermedias have given me fits crawling outa their baskets/pots and I've always wanted to mount a piece.

WOW!!! Great mounts!

I'm always on the lookout for pieces of driftwood like that. Went to a garage sale recently and didn't find anything I wanted BUT I did try to talk the owner into selling me the fantastic pieces of driftwood he had in his front yard... didn't work :bua:

Yours are wonderful...and I'm now going to mount my C intermedia v. orlata :dance13:

:thanx:

I like that you used what appears to be coconut husk fiber instead of the moss! I have issues with moss staying to moist on some of my mounts.

Great looking mounts, I have gotten hooked on mini or compacts just so you can do just what you did. Yours just makes me want more.

The Driftwood is also fantastic. Now I want to find a nice piece of it. My son lives in the Mich UP, on lake Huron. I'm going to ask him to look for me. I have been using cork with spag. The idea of coco fiber sounds worth trying.

I love all the great ideas I can get from this forum.
