Garden Anole Molt

Shot this pic of a small anole climbing on a chunk of Slash Pine hanging on an outdoor bench of orchids in clay pots. As you can see, he is in the latter stage of molting and acting really aggressive as the molt is very uncomfortable for him. Harmless, but made him more willing to let me get close enough for the shot.

Aww... poor little guy!

If you keep watching you'll see him eat it

He eats it! Crazy awesome! He does look a tad unfortunately in his pic

I used to keep Anoles all the time as a kid. Freaked me out first time I saw one eat it's molt! I wish I had cool little pest controllers like him where I live!

I loved those when I was young. I used to catch them with my brother when we would vacation in Florida. Hopefully, my girls will want to catch them when they're a little older because that gives me an excuse to run around chasing them as a grown woman without looking like a loony!

Btw they make very good earrings too. Just catch one, hold it up to your ear lobe and it'll grab it and as long as its feet don't touch anything it'll hang on like a Pit Bull. It doesn't really hurt, and only the very biggest ones draw blood.

My daughter's did this frequently when they were little girls. Miss those days!

I wonder if they would survive in a greenhouse?

If the temps inside stay above freezing, very likely. Worst case scenario you would have to supplement their feeding. They normally lap dew droplets for their water so as long as you mist or spray daily, or condensation forms, water is covered.
