bugs at winter watering

Hello! Has anyone come across very small white critters floating on the surface of the water after soaking orchids in it? They look like moving, hopping white dust. They are easy to miss; just happened to use a dark-coloured container and noticed them.

Probably Springtails...they are very common and nearly impossible to completely eradicate. They won't harm your orchids or roots...they feed on decaying organic matter.

Some won't harm but if the population gets extremely high and it's been awhile since your last repot...it might be time for fresh medium.
